What started out as a short range mountain exploration bike customized for a specific terrain around a mountain house turned into a fully equipped stylish escape. This project is for a man of adventure and sophistication. A single Turkish gentleman who really plays hard. We wanted to customize his Ducati scrambler with a seductive gesture in mind. The locations which gave the first spark to the project is dense pine forest of the Bolu a mountainous region in Turkey a few hours away from Istanbul. This region is known for its dense pine forest and high plateaus. Covered with deep snow in the winter but also really amazing in the summer. The plan was to take his girlfriend from his chalet, ride up tracks to a secret opening in the forest. Lay out the handwoven Anatolian rug, cut firewood with a handmade axe, pour drinks from custom panniers inspired from 1930s picnic hampers and light a cigar.
Other than the bodywork modifications some small adjustments for terrain everything was build around style and sophistication. First thing to do was to chop the ugly scrambler subframe and re-do the seat. The original fat seat seems comfy but actually has a really thin especially for the pillion. We turned a new loop for the subframe straightened the tail line, relocated the ECU and some other small electrical components. Re-do the slim seat plate and the Rear mudguard from aluminum. Theres actually a hidden Steel structure underneath the rear mudguard bearing the load of the racks, the bridle leather custom pannier and the accessories inside. The panniers can be unloaded with 4 butterfly nuts
We’ve swapped org. Mag wheels with urban enduro spoked wheels and put on TKC80 tyres for some more off-road grip. We got rid of the bulky exhaust and catalytic converter and tucked the exhaust manifolds higher to keep them away from harms way and made a custom Silencer.
On the front we’ve used Rizoma headlight bezel, raised the front mudguard and stripped away the plastic neck covers on the original scrambler. We’ve put on the Bunker Carbon Radiator cover available in our shop.
The tank is actually from a 400 cc scrambler because the 900 cc tank has cavities on the side of tank covered with aluminum caps. This way we could strip away to bare steel and did a classic style paint job over brushed steel.
The two bespoke pannier are the mark of elegance. English dark Havana oak bark leather shoulders wax bridle leather and green sued inside. All hand-made in Turkey. The pannier on the right side stores all a gentleman needs. The side panel open to reveal its silver tray. Inside a bottle vintage red wine and Champaign; matching walnut Forge de Laguiole pocket knife and corkscrew; two leather covered silver plated flasks - one for whiskey and one for cognac; a pair of vintage silver wine cups
with gold leaf inside into which matching small shot cups in there own leather holder are stored;; and for the cigar connoisseur, four silver leather bound cigar tubes, a hand engraved redwood cigar cutter and leather cigar lighter. All the leather on the accessories are dark green and match perfectly the rich green sued compartments they sit in. Oh, and do not forget the napkins. The left-hand side pannier holds three thermoses (coffee, tea and water) each with It’s own leather bound French Porcelain cup.
On the sides ve got rid of the plastic side panels and trimmed away the seat line so that we can clear some room for the small pockets for a french pocket knife, a damascus steel Bowie knife for various purposes and an axe for chopping would for the fire. All hand-made by Krop knives in Istanbul https://www.instagram.com/kropknives/?hl=en . We strapped a Anatolian Rug between the two sidebags mounted over the rear mudguard giving the couple big surface to spend their day.
